COLUMBUS, Ohio Brandon Wynn, a former All-American (2008-11) on the Ohio State men’s gymnastics team, helped the United States to a bronze medal in the team finals at the 2011 Pan American Games Tuesday in Guadalajara, Mexico. In the qualification round, the U.S. team captain placed fourth overall on rings with a 14.900, while collecting an 80.650 all-around score.

Ohio State head coach Rustam Sharipov is a part of the United States coaching staff at the 16th Pan Am Games and was pleased with Wynn’s efforts at the elite international event.

“Brandon went through some adversity in warm-ups, but helped the team to a third place finish overall,” Sharipov said. “He worked hard during the competition and stayed strong mentally and will compete in the all-around and rings finals.”

Wynn, a two-time NCAA rings champion, will compete in the all-around finals at 6:30 p.m. tonight as well as the rings finals beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Nissan Gymnastics Stadium in the Lopez Mateos Sports Complex.
