COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s track and field team closed out action at the 2009 Kentucky Invitational Saturday with several Top 5 finishes against some of the top teams in the country.

The Buckeyes went up against the likes of No. 4 Tennessee, No. 13 Florida, No. 16 South Carolina, No. 20 Miami, Fl., and No. 25 Louisville. Other notable schools include Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech.

In the high jump, Ashley Galbraith tied for fourth place with a leap of 1.66m (5-05.25).

Another Top 5 finish was turned in by senior Ayrizanna Favours in the 400m dash with a fifth-place showing at 55.62. Ashley Caldwell (57.08) and Shaniqua McGinnis (57.17) were 13th and 14th, respectively. Favours also took eighth in the 200m run in a time of 24.57.

Christina Manning and Letecia Wright finished 12th and 13th in the 60m hurdles with times of 8.73 and 8.83, respectively.

In the mile run, Ohio State had two runners finish in the Top 10. Emily Thompson took sixth with a time of 4:54:03 while Jordan Jennewine came in ninth at 4:58.22. Ashley Jones took 12th in the 800m run in a time of 2:20.01.

The 4×400 relay team of Caldwell, McGinnis, Wright and Favours closed out the night with a fifth-place showing out of 22 teams in a time of 3:45.06.

Ohio State is back in action Jan. 30-31 at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind.
