RALEIGH, N.C. Ellen Birmingham took second in the 5000m run and Ayrizanna Favours placed third in the 400m dash as the Ohio State women’s track and field team completed a solid first day of competition at the Reebok Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.
Birmingham, a sophomore from Worthington, Ohio, crossed the finish line in the second division final in 17:27.89, her top time of the year and three seconds behind the first-place pace.
In the 5000m seeded competition, Sarah Foster placed 12th with a time of 16:52.27, a career best.
Favours, the senior leader from Eastmoor Academy in Columbus was reliable as usual, running a time of 54.94, just over a tenth of a second behind Jernail Hayes of Seton Hall.
Freshman Kelcey McKinney set a personal record in the long jump while taking third-place with a mark of 5.82m.
The high jump saw two Buckeyes finish in the Top 10. Chelsea James tied for seventh with a jump of 1.65m, while Alison Roquet took the 10 spot at 1.60m.
Letecia Wright qualified for two finals tomorrow afternoon, claiming the third position in the 100m hurdle preliminaries in 13.60 and sixth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.95.
Alana Gray qualified alongside Wright in the 100m hurdles, finishing 11th in 14.26.
