Buckeye sophomores finish out fall in Denton, Texas

COLUMBUS, Ohio Cami Hubbs and Paloma Escobedo, sophomores on the Ohio State women’s tennis team, will travel to Denton, Texas for the North Texas Tennis Classic Nov. 7-8. The pair did not compete at earlier fall events due to injury and by rule are allowed to enter another fall event.

Hubbs, who won an Ohio State season record 36 singles matches a year ago, will look to build on her freshman campaign in which she lost only three singles matches after Jan. 21 last season and went 9-1 in Big Ten play. She was named the Big Ten Player of the Week in late March and her .837 singles winning percentage was the highest for a Buckeye since 1975.

Escobedo enjoyed a successful debut campaign as well, winning 21 singles matches and taking 26 doubles matches. She was a constant at the top of the singles lineup and found a niche at the No. 2 spot, where she went 10-5.
