COLUMBUS, Ohio – Michael Wright received National Freshman of the Week recognition on Monday (Feb. 3) from Off the Block (OTB), the nation’s premier website for coverage of collegiate men’s volleyball. Wright steered the Ohio State offense to a .396 team hitting percentage with 64 assists during a pair of road sweeps.
The Buckeye setter opened his weekend by dishing out 29 assists and getting up for six blocks at Saint Francis. He then came back the next night in Happy Valley, distributing 35 assists as the Buckeyes topped No. 7 Penn State. For the week, Wright averaged 10.67 assists, 1.17 digs and 1.00 blocks per set.
Fellow freshman Samuel Clark was a recipient of the same accolade earlier this season (Jan. 21).
