COLUMBUS, Ohio – Laurence Wootton, a sophomore captain, has been named a Top 25 men’s soccer student-athlete nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.
Wootton leads the Buckeyes with nine points and four goals on the season. The midfielder from Halstead, England, is ranked as the No. 21 player by TopDrawerSoccer.com. He is the second highest rated player in the Big Ten.
Prior to the start of the 2021 fall season, Wootton was named as a player to watch by the Big Ten Conference coaches.
He was a first-team All-Big Ten selection, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and was a member of the Big Ten All-Freshman team following the 2021 spring season.
The Buckeyes are back in action at 7 p.m. Friday vs. Penn State in Columbus. Ohio State will recognize seven seniors in pregame ceremonies at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
