COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State (13-14 overall, 7-11 Big Ten) women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-21, 30-19, 30-14) decision to ninth-ranked Wisconsin (23-4, 15-3) Monday night in St. John Arena. OhioState’s Kristi Hunter (Fr., Roblin, Manitoba, Canada) scored a team-high 12.5 points with 11 kills and three assist blocks for the Buckeyes. Wisconsin’s Katherine Dykstra recorded a match-high 15 points for the Badgers with 11 kills, a solo block and six assist blocks.


Trailing 1-0 after a Katie Dull (Fr., Solon, Ohio) kill, Wisconsin with a Brittney Dolgner kill, two OSU errors and an Amanda Berkley ace serve to take a 4-1 lead. A Badger error and a Hunter kill cut the margin to one at 4-3. A Buckeye error and kills from Taylor Reineke and Jackie Simpson gave Wisconsin a 7-3 lead. The Badgers expanded the lead to 26-21 where two kills from Caity DuPont and one from Simpson set game point at 29-21. An OSU error ended the game to give Wisconsin a 30-21 win. The Badgers hit .179 for the game to .024 for the Buckeyes.


Game two saw OhioState break a 3-3 tie with a Hunter kill and a Badger error to take a 5-3 lead. A Dykstra kill with a Buckeye error tied the game at five. A Dykstra solo block, a Dolgner kill and an OSU error put Wisconsin ahead, 8-5. Wisconsin expanded the lead to reach game point at 29-19 with an Audra Jeffers kill. A Dykstra-Jeffers block ended the game at 30-19 to give Wisconsin a 2-0 lead in the match. The Badgers hit .429 for the game to .179 for OhioState.


Wisconsin broke a 1-1 tie in game three to take a 2-1 lead off an OSU error. A kill from Jeffers, a Reineke ace serve and two Buckeye errors put the Badgers ahead, 6-1. Wisconsin expanded the lead to reach match point at 29-13 with a block by DuPont. A Hunter kill stopped the first match point at 29-14. Wisconsin won the game, 30-14, with a DuPont kill to win the match, 3-0. The Badgers hit .455 for the game to .000 for OhioState.


For the match, Wisconsin hit .346 to .063 for the Buckeyes. The Badgers had a 49-39 margin in kills and a four to one advantage in ace serves. The Buckeyes gave up three service errors to one for Wisconsin. Defensively, the Badgers had a 41-35 advantage in digs with Badgers Jocelyn Wack and Dolgner sharing match-high honors with 11 each. At the net, Wisconsin enjoyed a 12 to five margin in team blocks. Dykstra posted a match-high seven blocks with a solo and six assists. Simpson posted a match-high 40 assists for the Badgers while OSU’s Briana McCarthy (Sr., Beaver Dam, Wis.) recorded 29.


OhioState closes out the home schedule at 8 p.m. Wednesday when the Buckeyes host No. 1 Penn State (26-2, 18-0) in St. John Arena. The match will be carried live by the Big Ten Network.
