COLUMBUS, Ohio-Five members of the Ohio State women’s tennis team will begin the spring season with either a national or regional ranking to their name. Leading the charge is Monica Rincon (Sr., Lapeer, Mich./West). Rincon, who is 17 wins shy of becoming the second player in OSU history to reach the century mark, is ranked No. 56 in the national rankings (Dec. 11) and No. 5 in the Midwest region (Dec. 14). In the fall she posted a 7-5 record.
In doubles, the tandem of Rincon and Erica Fisk (So., Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) is ranked No. 47 in the nation. Regionally, Fisk is the second-highest Buckeye ranked as she is tied with Notre Dame’s Caylan Leslie at No. 8. Fisk posted a team-best 10-4 record in the fall and competed in the singles and doubles final at the Cissie Leary Invitational.
Sadhaf Pervez (Jr., Warren, N.J./Watchung) was 6-3 in the fall season and is ranked No. 13 in the region. Meaghan Colville (So., Toronto, Ontario/Western Michigan) teamed with Rincon to post a 2-0 doubles record in the fall which was good enough to place them at No. 15 in the region in doubles.
The Buckeyes begin their spring season at 10 a.m. when they play host to instate rival Akron. The match will be contested at the Jesse Owens West Recreation Center.
