Columbus, Ohio- – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team won its first meet of the season in dramatic fashion with a 130-113 win over the Ohio Bobcats. The win was the 100th career victory for 12th-year coach Jeanne Fleck.

The meet came down to the final competition of the evening, the 400 freestyle relay, where the Buckeyes team consisting of Kylie Lancken (So., Sydney, Australia), Katie Severson (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio), Lindsay Goodson (Jr., San Ramon, Calif.) and Nicole Maglich (Fr., Sarasota, Fla.) took first place in the race at three minutes, 33.16 seconds.

Ohio State racked up most of its points in distance events. Maglich won both the 500 (5:04.21) and 1,000 freestyle (10:17.2) races. Stephanie Raezer was second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:24.7) to give the Buckeyes a one-two punch in the event. Joining Maglich in a one-two-three finish in the 500 freestyle were Raezer (5:07.78) and Goodson (5:11.37).

In diving, the Buckeyes had a strong showing, with Natalia Diea (Sr., Austin, Texas) (292.05), Jillian Cicione (Sr., Plantation, Fla.) (228.08) and Rachel Pichacz (221.48) taking the Top 3 spots in the 1-meter competition. In the 3-meter, Diea (185.75) and Cicione (158.40) once again finished No. 1 and 2.

Ohio State improves to 1-0 on the season, the Bobcats fall to 0-1.

The Buckeyes will be back in action Nov. 8 when they travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to take on West Virginia and Louisville. The meet begins at 5 p.m.
