Sophomore defenseman Rachel Davis has become a mainstay on the Ohio State defensive unit, playing in every career game. After recieving the team’s Most Valuable Freshman award for the 2006-07 season, the native of Horton, Mich., picked up right where she left off, increasing her time on both the Buckeye power play and penalty kill teams. Davis has four assists through 14 games this season after posting five points her entire rookie campaign.

I started playing hockey because… every time when I was little when I went to the rink to watch my brothers or dad play they’d press me up against the glass so I could see. I’d cry when we had to leave. It was just natural I played.
I chose to come to Ohio State because… it was close to home and I fell in love with it when I came to visit.
The best thing about playing college athletics is… having Super Fans.
The hardest thing I’ve ever done is… learn how to balance family, school and hockey.
Three words to describe me are… clever, prodigious, convivial.
If I had a million dollars I would… buy you a monkey… haven’t you always wanted a monkey!
Fans may not know this about the team… we are learning to line dance.
My biggest pet peeve is… people touching my face, and people talking on the phone when I’m watching TV.
The person I would like to be stuck in an elevator with is… the guy that happens to know how to fix a stuck elevator (he should be cute too!).
In 20 years, I would like to be… married and have kids.
When not at the rink, my favorite thing to do is… singing Backstreet Boys/Nsync songs to my floor-mate Rocky (she LOVES it).
I can’t imagine living without… my car.
I am an avid fan of these sports teams… Red Wings, Tigers, Pistons and Lions.
Favorite song to sing in the shower… “Anything But Mine” Kenny Chesney.
My favorite candy is… Peanut M&M’s.
The television shows I watch the most are… Heroes, Family Guy, The Simpsons, Tila Tequila!
The TV show I would most like a cameo appearance on is… Heroes.
The last movie I saw was… Meet the Robinsons.
My favorite spot on campus is… the rink.
What are your pre-game rituals/routines? Tape my stick, drink some coffee, play a very competitive game of handball, stretch and then get dressed.
One thing I learned as a freshman was… No matter how badly you’ve screwed up, things can always get worse.
What was your “welcome to college” moment? When I had to drink 4 pounds of water because I lost that much weight from the previous week from training.
What do you think is the key to being a good defenseman? Play solid hockey, have a strong work ethic, and know you have the skills to get the job done. You don’t have to have the glory in order to help the team.
Tell us about your family… I have a sister Adrienne and a brother-in-law Dan, my brother Gabe and my sister-in-law Melissa. My brother Jake and my parents, Murd and Chris who’ve been there to support me for everything. My family is awesome!
Tell us about your hometown (Horton, Mich.)… I mostly spent my time in Jackson where it’s home of the prison. Good stuff- everyone should come and visit!
