Senior forward Erin Keys of the Ohio State women’s hockey team had an outstanding junior season and is carrying that into her senior campaign. Named U.S. College Hockey Online’s Most Improved Player in the nation, Keys posted the second-highest season point total in Ohio State program history in 2006-07 with 48 points on 22 goals and 26 assists. The native of St. Paul, Minn., scored 12 power play goals to lead the Western Collegiate Hockey Association and earn Second Team All-WCHA honors. Strong in the classroom as well, Keys was selected an AWHCA Scholar All-American, WCHA Scholar-Athlete, WCHA All-Academic Team member and Academic All-Big Ten honoree her junior season.

You would never guess that I… am a certified scuba diver and sing gospel hymns to put my roommates to sleep.
The hardest thing I’ve ever done was… leave the best state in the world Minnesota.
My favorite thing about hockey is… the places I’ve gotten to go and the amazing people I have met.
Three words to describe me are… scampi, sassy, and stylish.
If I had a million dollars I would… buy a house on the beach in the Caribbean, and give the rest to my mom and dad.
My favorite road trip is… Minnesota because I get to see all of my family and it’s always a great series.
My least favorite thing about traveling is… waking up early, loading the bus, and how that one lady won’t serve me smoothies before 10:30 am, but she’ll serve [Colleen] Olson.
Fans may not know this about the team… there is an extra person on our team that does not play and only causes trouble. Her name is Bad Sally.
My biggest pet peeve is… sharing milk, socks with sandals, and when Liana [Bonanno] and Mallory [Peckels] gurgle and clear their throats in the morning right outside my door.
The person I would like to be stuck in an elevator with is… Jason from Laguna Beach.
In 20 years, I would like to be… running my restaurant and traveling the world with my husband and four kids.
When not at the rink, my favorite thing to do is… watch movies and go out to dinner.
I can’t imagine living without… my cell phone.
I am an avid fan of these sports teams… Minnesota Twins! And the Minnesota Wild.
Favorite song to sing in the shower… “How many people can you fit in an elevator” and any song that was on Broadway.
My favorite splurge is…buying new, hip purses.
The television channel I watch the most is… CMT and MTV.
The TV show I would most like a cameo appearance on is… The OC and American Idol.
My favorite spot on campus is… Mirror Lake before the Michigan game and the Viewpoint.
Tell us about your family…I have two loving parents, Jeff and Paula, an awesome brother Nick, a sweet sister Kaylee, and a perfect dog Josie!
What are your pre-game rituals/routines? Tessa [Bonhomme], Cheese [Lisa Chesson], Morgan [Marziali] and I do volleyball spikes and Morgan, Jody [Heywood] and I recite a Japanese hymn taped inside my stall.
What did you think last season when you were named the Most Improved Player in the nation by USCHO? I was shocked, humbled, and couldn’t really believe it.
Your family has a history of playing college hockey with your dad and grandfather. Is that something you grew up wanting to do? Always. I always idolized my dad and grandpa and how awesome they were at hockey.
What is your most memorable goal scored as a Buckeye? In Mankato, when I had the flu and fell to the ice in front of the net and was too tired and weak to get up and [former Buckeye defenseman Amber] Bowman hit me with a slap shot from the point and it went off my butt into the net.
