COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State women’s ice hockey team are set to graduate this Sunday, May 3 including Rebecca Freiburger, Elise Riemenschneider, and Olivia Soares. The three student-athletes have played a combined 433 games in the Scarlet and Gray and will leave a lasting legacy on the program.
Rebecca Freiburger (Rochester, Minn.) is graduating with a degree in exercise science and is continuing her education at the University of Pittsburgh to pursue a master’s degree in sports science. Freiburger was a standout in the classroom as she was a three-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete and WCHA All-Academic Team member, a four-time OSU-Scholar Athlete and a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Elise Riemenschneider (Rocky River, Ohio) will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in communications and is moving to Detroit to work as a client service specialist with Dialog Direct. During her time as a Buckeye, the defenseman and Ohio native was a two-time WCHA All-Academic Team member, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.
Olivia Soares (Boston, Mass.) captained the team in the 2019-20 season and will be graduating with a degree in sports industry management. Soares will be continuing her education with Ohio State as she is enrolled in the university’s sport management master’s program. The forward was also a standout off the ice as she is a WCHA Scholar-Athlete, a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, a three-time WCHA All-Academic Team member and a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete.
