Goaltender from Michigan joins seven other incoming Buckeyes
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s hockey team has added Barbara Bilko to its 2008-09 roster, head coach Jackie Barto announced Wednesday. The goaltender from Coldwater, Mich., brings the number of incoming Buckeyes to eight.

Bilko attends Shattuck St. Mary’s school in Fairbault, Minn., and is a three-year member of its prep hockey team. She has helped the Sabres win the 2006 and 2007 U.S. Under-19 National Championships. SSM recently was crowned Midwest Elite Hockey League U-19 champions for the second time in the last three years and won its third-consecutive Minnesota District AAA Championship to advance to the U.S. National Tournament.

This season, Bilko is 22-1-0 in 24 appearances. She has a .920 save percentage with five shutouts and a 1.42 goals-against average. During her time at SSM, she also has lettered twice in lacrosse and once in both cross country and soccer.

Bilko also is a former member of the Madison Capitols Girls AAA team from 2002-05 as well as a member of the 2004-05 Green Bay Gamblers Boys AAA Bantam Major team and Wisconsin Elite U-19 girls team. She attended the U.S. Hockey 17/18 Select Festival in 2007.

Bilko joins Ohio State’s seven recruits signed in December: Brittany Carlson (D, Hudson, Wis.), Melissa Feste (F, Bloomington, Minn.), Laura McIntosh (F, Waterloo, Ontario), Lauren Smith (F, Burnsville, Minn.), Natalie Spooner (F, Toronto, Ontario), Kim Theut (F, Harrison Township, Mich.) and Kelly Wild (D, Mendota Heights, Minn.).
