COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics team has qualified two individuals to the NCAA Women’s Gymnastics Championships, to be held Apr. 13-15 in Boise, Idaho. Jill Tucker (So., Tallmadge, Ohio) and Rickee Wirtzberger (Fr., Madison, Ohio) have qualified for the event after sharing first-place honors in the floor exercise at the NCAA Region 4 Championships last weekend.

“I am really excited that these two made the NCAA finals,” head coach Larry Cox said. “As two walk-ons, they have done a great job. Their routines at the regional meet were flawless. I feel that they both have the possibility of winning All-America credentials.”

Tucker and Wirtzberger each set career highs in their floor exercise routines at the regional meet, scoring a 9.925 as they tied with Central Michigan’s Nicole Liphardt and Alabama’s Andree’ Pickens for the top spot. The two helped lead OSU to a school-record team score of 49.450 in the floor exercise.

The Buckeye duo will compete in the first session on Apr. 13, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Boise State Pavilion. Tucker will perform her routine during the third rotation, while Wirtzberger will compete during the fourth rotation.
