COLUMBUS – The Ohio State women’s golf team jumps back into action this weekend as they host the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational at the Scarlet Golf Course. OSU will host 12 teams from around the nation in the event, which tees off Saturday at 8:30 a.m.%^$

%^$BITS ON THE LADY BUCKEYE INVITATIONAL%^$The 20th Annual Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational features a diverse field from around the nation, including No. 9 Pepperdine, seven schools from Ohio and five schools from the Big Ten. Ohio State has won the championship seven times, including last year. Saturday’s play will consist of 36 holes, with 18 on Sunday. The tournament will serve as a final tuneup for the Big Ten schools competing in next weekend’s Big Ten Championships at Purdue. %^$

%^$STROM, MOSHER LEAD BUCKS TO 2ND AT IU%^$Ohio State took second place at the Indiana Invitational Apr. 10-11, falling by three strokes to Indiana. The Buckeyes were led by Lisa Strom who picked up OSU’s first medalist honor of the season on the second playoff hole over teammate Natalie Mosher and Minnesota’s Kristi Weichert. Strom, Mosher and Weichert all fired a nine-over-par 231. Strom’s medalist honor was the first of her career, while Mosher’s runner-up finish was her second straight such finish.%^$

%^$STROM NAMED ATHLETE OF THE WEEK%^$Lisa Strom was awarded the Big Ten Women’s Golf Athlete of the Week April 12 after her medalist performance at the Indiana Invitational. Strom fired rounds of 76, 76 and 79 on the par-74 course as she became OSU’s second consecutive recipient of the award. Natalie Mosher won the award the previous week.%^$

%^$BUCKEYES HONORED FOR PERFORMANCES%^$In the latest MasterCard Collegiate Golf Rankings, Natalie Mosher stands 35th in the national rankings. Lisa Strom jumped into the rankings at 96th place after her medalist performance at Indiana. As a team, OSU was tied for first in the MasterCard Collegiate Golf Midwest District team rankings with Big Ten rivals Indiana and Michigan State.%^$

%^$OSU RANKED IN MASTERCARD TOP 25%^$Ohio State is ranked 16th in the April 21 edition of the MasterCard women’s team rankings. The Buckeyes, along with No. 9 Pepperdine, are the two ranked teams competing at this weekend’s Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational. The latest rankings are as follows:%^$
