COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State women’s golf coach Therese Hession has announced the signing of two recruits for the 2002-03 season. Brittany Adams from Huntington, W.Va., and Allyson Harvie from Grass Valley, Calif., will continue their academic and athletic careers at Ohio State next fall.

Adams’ previous accomplishments include being a member of the 2000 boys golf team that won the West Virginia State High School AAA Championship. She was also the 1998 and 1999 West Virginia Junior Girls State Runner-up. Additionally, she was named the West Virginia Junior Player of the Year (boys and girls) and claimed the West Virginia Junior Girls Championship. Adams also won the Women’s State Amateur Championship, being the second youngest in its 78-year history. “Brittany is a consistent performer and will add more depth to our team,” said Hession. “She will work very hard to improve all areas of her game. She enjoys the competition and the challenge of stepping up her game.”

At Bear Ricer High School, Harvie earned SFL (Sierra Foothill League) medalist honors in 54-of-56 matches played this season and was the SFL Most Valuable Player as a sophomore and a junior. She has been named to the SFL All-League Team four years running. Harvie also won the NCPGA Junior Championship this past summer.

“Allyson has a great desire to succeed and is a real competitor,” said Hession. “She wants to take her game to the next level and is willing to do what it takes to get there.”
