Final Round Results

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s golf team fired a tournament-low 303 (+15) Sunday, enabling the Buckeyes to rally from a two-stroke deficit to earn the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational title, held at the par-72 OSU Scarlet Course. OSU’s three-round total of 929 was six strokes better than second-place Michigan State, who held the lead entering the final round.

Mollie Fankhauser (Fr., Dublin, Ohio) paced the Buckeyes with a 228 (+12) as she finished one stroke shy of champion Kasey Gant of Michigan State. Gant entered the final round with a one-stroke lead over Fankhauser and held on as both fired a 76 in the third round.

Lisa Strom (Sr., North Wales, Pa.) provided the highlight of the tournament, shooting a hole-in-one on the par-three 13th hole. It was her first career ace. Strom shot a 75 on the day as she finished in sixth place overall (231).

After firing a career-low 76 in the first round on Saturday, Natalie Aber (So., Akron, Ohio) bettered it with a 75 in the final round as she earned a career-best score of 232 (+16), which was good for seventh place – her first career top-10 finish.

Six of OSU’s nine players shot a round in the 70s on Sunday, including five of the six starters.

OSU now will prepare for the Big Ten Championship, hosted next weekend in Madison, Wis. The Buckeyes are the defending Big Ten champions.
