Nara Shin and Victoria Villanueva will join Buckeyes in the fall
COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio State women’s golf team has signed two golfers to NCAA National Letters of Intent, head coach Therese Hession announced Wednesday. Joining the Buckeyes for the 2008-09 season will be Nara Shin of Avon, Conn., and Victoria Villanueva of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

“Both Nara and Vicky are impact players,” Hession said. “We are thrilled to add them to our team, not only as quality golfers, but good students and people as well. We look forward to having them step up as freshmen and contribute to the team.”

Shin advanced to the quarterfinal round of the 2004 and ’07 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship. She narrowly missed the cut at the 2006 Callaway Golf Junior World Golf Championships. Shin also has competed in the 2005 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship and is a two-time participant in U.S. Girls’ Junior Championships.

Villanueva stood atop the Argentine Junior Rankings in 2007 after being runner-up in the 2006 and ’07 Argentine Junior Championships. She also was runner-up at the 2007 Litoral Argentine Open. Villanueva represented the Argentina in the South American Junior Championship and the Spirit International Amateur Championship. She won the Argentine Ladies Open and Fay Crocker’s Cup in 2006 and followed the next year by placing fourth at the Doral Publix Junior Championship and finishing in the Top 5 at the Optimist International Junior Championship.
