COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s basketball team recorded its second straight Big Ten win, pounding Iowa 79-52 Wednesday night at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes improve to 13-4 on the year, 3-4 in Big Ten play. Iowa saw its two-game conference win streak come to an end, falling to 8-8 overall and 3-3 in the Big Ten.
OSU held a slim six-point lead, 35-29, at halftime, but exploded in the second half, outscoring the Hawkeyes 44-23 en route to the victory.
Courtney Coleman’s (So., Cincinnati, Ohio) play in the Big Ten campaign continues to get better and better, scoring a career-high 26 points while grabbing eight rebounds. Her offensive output marks the fourth straight game in which she has improved her career scoring mark.
Lauren Shenk (Jr., Minster, Ohio) posted 18 points, while D’wan Shackleford (So., Newark, Ohio) recorded her second career double-double, scoring 11 points while grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds.
Jamie Lewis (Sr., Oak Hill, Ohio) continued her assault on the OSU record books, dishing out nine assists as she moved within 26 assists of overtaking Yvette Angel as the all-time leader in assists at Ohio State. Lewis has 537 career assists after her performance vs. Iowa.
DiDi Reynolds (So., Portage, Ohio) added 10 points, six boards and three steals in the victory.
Lindsey Meder led Iowa with nine points, one-half of her season average (18.5 ppg).
Ohio State jumps back into play Sunday, hosting Michigan at 4 p.m. Buckeye All-American Katie Smith will have her number retired during halftime ceremonies.
