COLUMBUS, Ohio – In the season’s final week of the regular season, junior JJ Wolf has been named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week. This is Wolf’s fourth Athlete of the Week award this year.
Wolf helped the Buckeyes complete a fourth consecutive undefeated Big Ten regular season with four wins last weekend. He defeated Purdue’s Athell Bennett 6-1, 6-2 on Friday night and then knocked-off Indiana’s No. 68-ranked Antonio Cembellin 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday. He also won a pair of doubles matches with Martin Joyce at the No. 1 spot.
This is the 14th consecutive Big Ten regular season title for the Buckeyes. They have also won the last 77 matches in a row at home dating back to March of 2015.
On the year, Wolf is a perfect 29-0 in singles play and 16-3 in doubles. He has been as the ranked No. 1 singles player in the country for the last 11 weeks and is ranked No. 30 in the doubles rankings.
Wolf and the Buckeyes head north for the Big Ten Tournament this weekend in Ann Arbor, Mich. They will play either Minnesota or Wisconsin on Friday morning at 10 a.m.
