The 2010 winners of the prestigious Big Ten Medal of Honor, given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athletes at each conference school, will be announced Wednesday. Leading up to the 43rd Annual Scholar-Athlete Dinner, the 11 Medal of Honor finalists will be featured on

Stefan Sigrist became a Big Ten champion and an NCAA All-American in 2010. The senior from Switzerland won the Big Ten title in the 1650 freestyle in a pool and school record time of 14:50.46, and then he went on to place fifth in the event at the NCAA championships to earn All-America honors. He also picked up honorable mention All-America honors in the 500 freestyle at NCAAs. He was fifth at the Big Ten championships in the 500 free. The only Buckeye in school history who has Top 3 times in three events, he has the fastest 1000 free time and he has the third-fastest 500 free time in addition to his school record time in the 1650. He is academically distinguished as well. He is a three-time OSU Scholar-Athlete majoring in political science and economics and he is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar. He will graduate this June and then plans on continuing his competitive training because he would like to make the 2012 London Olympics.
