COLUMBUS – Following their performances in Sunday’s 14-13 come-from-behind victory at No. 15 Johns Hopkins, two members of the Ohio State men’s lacrosse team garnered weekly honors from the Big Ten Conference. Sophomore Jackson Reid is the Offensive Player of the Week while Johnny Wiseman is the Freshman of the Week.
Reid had a career high six points vs. the Blue Jays on five goals and an assist. He scored four times in the second half as the Buckeyes erased an 8-3 halftime deficit and had the game-winning goal with just 49 seconds remaining in regulation. Reid had a pair of goals and an assist in the third quarter, helping the Buckeyes go on a 7-1 run that saw them take their first lead of the game at 10-9. For his efforts, Reid was also named the USILA D1 Team of the Week.
Did You Know: In Ohio State’s 14-13 win over Johns Hopkins, it overcame a five-goal second half deficit for the second time this season.
Reid is currently tied for second on the team with 30 points (22 goals, eight assists) and has been the team’s top point producer over the last six games. He has 22 points on 17 goals and five assists in that span, including a pair of five goal games (vs. Marquette and Johns Hopkins). Reid ranks seventh in the Big Ten in goals per game (2.20) and 12th in points per game (3.00).
Wiseman had the most productive game of his young career on Sunday, scoring three goals and his first career hat trick. The Powell, Ohio native and graduate of Olentangy Liberty High School scored once in the first half and twice more in the second, including the game-tying goal with 7:23 remaining in the fourth quarter. Wiseman also assisted on a Reid score to give the Buckeyes a 13-12 lead at the 6:08 mark of the fourth quarter.
In seven games this year, Wiseman has six points on five goals and an assist. He previously scored in wins over Massachusetts and Hofstra.
Reid, Wiseman and the rest of the seventh-ranked Buckeyes (8-2, 1-2 B1G) play their final regular season home game on Saturday against No. 2 Maryland (10-2, 2-1 B1G) at 1 p.m. in Ohio Stadium. The game will air live on BTN.
