COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior right-hander Alex Wimmers has been named to the College Baseball Foundation Pitcher of the Year watch list for 2010.

The preseason All-American and 2009 Big Ten co-Pitcher of the Year has posted a 5-0 record with a 2.12 earned run average in five starts. The Cincinnati native leads the Big Ten with 41 strikeouts in 34.0 innings pitched while allowing opposing batters to hit just .236.

Wimmers is coming off a sophomore season that included a 3.27 ERA and 136 strikeouts in 104.2 innings pitched en route to a 9-2 record in 16 starts. He was named first-team All-America by Louisville Slugger and PING! Baseball and third-team All-America by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA.
