COLUMBUS, Ohio – “What I Did Last Summer” is a series that will look back at how student-athletes from the Ohio State field hockey team were able to maximize their summer with internship and job experience despite the challenges that COVID-19 presented.
Today we check in with Sammy Stone, a senior from Herndon, Va. who graduated this past August with her degree in marketing. This past summer, she was a marketing intern to Hilo Nutrition, a Columbus-based company that specializes in making gummies for athletes to achieve greater results on the field.
“This summer I worked as a Marketing Intern for Hilo Nutrition. Hilo makes all-natural sports performance gummies to help athletes of all kinds achieve their goals.
I worked remotely, connecting with the Hilo team daily on video calls. Over the course of the summer, I learned the ropes of E-commerce and marketing a product on several platforms such as Facebook, Amazon, Instagram, and email. I monitored sales data daily and worked on small projects such as email campaigns and ideas for the future of Hilo. Additionally, I worked on the customer service side of things, managing customer questions and orders.
Overall, I had a great summer learning from the entrepreneurs that created this company, and am grateful I was able to gain such valuable experience from a distance.”
