Sophomore won the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational and led team to tournament title
COLUMBUS, Ohio In Hong Lim, a sophomore on the Ohio State women’s golf team, was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday. It is the first weekly award for the Buckeyes this season.
Lim won the 29th Annual Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational, April 18-19 at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course. The Melbourne, Australia, native opened with a career-low round of 68 on the par 72, 6,228-yard course to jump atop the leaderboard and held on with rounds of 74-75 for the one-stroke victory. It was Lim’s first collegiate win with a career-low 54-hole total of 217 (+1).
The first Buckeye medalist since 2005, Lim helped the Buckeyes to a 10-stroke victory their first team win since 2005 as well.
Ohio State looks to use their Lady Buckeye win as a springboard to the 2009 Big Ten Championships, held this weekend on Purdue’s Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind. The three-day, 72-hole tournament begins Friday at 8 a.m.
