Junior Buckeye Emma Jandel leads field after first 18 holes
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Concluding round one of the 2009 Big Ten Championships early Friday afternoon in West Lafayette, Ind., the Ohio State women’s golf team sits in third place. In the hunt for their 15th Big Ten title, the Buckeyes fired an opening round team score of 317 on the par 72, 6,333-yard Kampen Course.
The Buckeyes are one stroke back from second-place Michigan State and eight strokes back from first-place Purdue entering round two of the 72-hole event.
The top Ohio State performance during round one was junior co-captain Emma Jandel. Shooting a round one score of 2-over 74, the Dayton, Ohio native stands atop the Big Ten individual leaderboard by a stroke. She made three birdies in her round and was 2-under in her last 11 holes.
