UCLA continues to post Top 2 athletes after 36 holes of play
COLUMBUS, Ohio Heading into the final round of competition, UCLA currently holds a 10-stroke lead over the 21-team field at the 2009 NCAA Central Regional in Columbus. Carding a round of 290 on Ohio State’s par 72, 6,246-yard Scarlet Course, the Bruins maintained their lead for the second-consecutive day with a total of 574 and are the only team under par at 2-under.
After each notching rounds of 70, the top-seeded Bruins are led by Stephanie Kono and Maria Jose Uribe who are tied for first at 5-under 139.
Behind UCLA is second-place Purdue, who fired the lowest team score of the day at 289. The Boilermakers were led by Maude-Aimee LeBlanc who is currently in third place after firing a Friday low score of 69.
Oklahoma State in third place at 589 and Wake Forest in fourth at 593. Along with Purdue, Michigan State of the Big Ten is in the Top 5. The Spartans, who currently post four student-athletes in the Top 25, fired a round of 300 to gain a two-stroke lead over sixth-place New Mexico.
