What is she doing now? Cate continued to follow her passion for helping others into graduate school where she earned her MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is now working as a Speech-Language Pathologist in the medical setting. She works with patients recovering from strokes, seizures, TBI’s, cardiac surgeries, and cancer and is now a fully licensed therapist.
Accolades: part of two National Championships, member of the well-known “Gladiator” Scarlet Team that won the National Title here at McCorkle in 2008 and the 2009 team that won the team, duet, and both trios tied for first.
Cate arrived on campus in 2006 but her Buckeye career lasted a little longer than most. She would have been part of the 2010 class but extended her studies in order to pursue her Olympic dreams. She trained in Australia for a year and then was named to the 2012 USA Olympic Team as the alternate to the duet. After the London Games she returned to Ohio State.
Advice to Buckeyes: “21 is not old! You won’t really figure life out until you are 30 so stop putting pressure on yourself to have everything decided when you are so young. Make lasting friendships and focus on what you are passionate about and trust that life will provide you with the opportunities you are meant to see.”
