COLUMBUS, Ohio – What a gameday morning for the Ohio State men’s soccer team. The Buckeyes went through their morning walkthrough at the upper practice fields behind Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium and were surprised when one of the greatest American soccer players greeted them at the training facility. Colorado Rapids captain and former U.S. national team goalkeeper Tim Howard spoke with the Scarlet and Gray before his morning training session and gave the team some words of encouragement before their match tonight vs. Northwestern.

“You have to dig. you have to grind. Winning is hard. Can you lift each other up?”

Redshirt junior goalkeeper Parker Siegfried summed up the morning the best.

“Having Tim Howard come talk to the team today was special. Growing up in America and playing soccer, guys like Tim Howard become your idols so to get to have him out at our training facility speaking to our team today was a dream come true.”

The Buckeyes host Northwestern in their Big Ten home opener at 7:30 p.m. at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Admission is free and the match will be streamed on BTN Plus ($).
