Senior running back Daniel “Boom” Herron, one of five Buckeyes who will miss the first five games of the 2011 regular season, spoke with local reporters Saturday about his role this spring practice and gearing up for 2011.
Herron had a breakout season in 2010, leading the Buckeyes with 1,155 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns. This spring he is helping a young, deep and talented running back corp gear up for the 2011 season in addition to improving his game.
“I try my best to help them (RBs) out,” Herron said Saturday. “With the games I’ll be missing, to have those guys ready to go full go and to perform at their best when they get out there … It’s like a big friendship (amongst the running backs). All the guys are really working and competing hard everyday.”
