USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight up Next for Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team will be competing at the USTA Fall Ranked Spotlight this weekend. The tournament takes place Friday through Sunday at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. Live video streaming of all matches, along with up-to-date tournament information, will be available at USTANationalCampus.com.

The tournament is hosted by the USTA, partnering with NC State and UCF. Other schools with players competing include Florida, Miami, Oklahoma State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

All nine participating schools finished in the Top 25 of the Tennis Channel/USTA College Tennis rankings at the end of the 2019 spring season, with Ohio State ranked No. 24.

The tournament will start at 9 a.m. each day and includes flights in both singles and doubles. Friday will have one round of doubles and two rounds of singles, Saturday will have four rounds of singles and Sunday will have one round of doubles and two rounds of singles.

The Buckeyes Last Week

Ohio State traveled to South Carolina for the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, where Irina Cantos Siemers picked up her first collegiate singles and doubles wins. Cantos Siemers and Luna Dormet both reached their respective singles flight final matches. Cantos Siemers and Danielle Wolf led the Buckeyes in doubles with two victories as a duo.

Shiori Fukuda headed to Lubbock, Texas, for the ITF 15K Team Luke Hope for Minds Tennis Classic. She reached the singles quarterfinals and advanced to the final of the doubles draw.

In the Rankings

In the ITA Preseason Rankings, three Buckeyes are among the singles rankings, with two doubles teams listed. Isabelle Boulais is No. 36 in singles, followed by No. 61 Kolie Allen and No. 79 Shiori Fukuda. In doubles, Allen and Fukuda make up the No. 49-ranked team and Boulais pairs with Danielle Wolf to form the 60th ranked team.
