COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s gymnastics program has signed two gymnasts to join the team for the 2020 season, head coach Meredith Paulicivic announced on Thursday. Raina Malas and Zoe Schweitzer have signed a National Letter of Intent to compete and study at the Ohio State University.

Raina Malas is a local from Dublin, Ohio, and trains at Buckeye Gymnastics. Malas is a 2017 Junior Olympic national qualifier and saw the top of the podium at the 2017 Ohio State Championship, winning the floor exercise title. Prior to her floor title, Malas was the 2016 Ohio state vault champion.

Paulicivic on Malas: Raina was originally in our 2020 class and has decided to join us a year early! She is an excellent all-arounder and does not have a weak event! Her big amplitude on floor and vault will make her stand out!”

Zoe Schweitzer, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa., is part of X-Cel Gymnastics. She is a three-time Junior Olympic national qualifier and was dominant at the 2017 Pennsylvania State Championship, taking the all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise titles. Schweitzer has a history of success on the uneven bars as the 2016 regional uneven bars champion and the 2015 national uneven bars champion.

Paulicivic on Schweitzer: Zoe is the combination of power and grace! She performs very artistic gymnastics on every event! She should make an immediate impact on multiple events with her experience and great lines!”
