KANE’OHE, HI. – The Ohio State women’s golf team sits in a tie for second overall in the 16-team field after the first two rounds of tournament play at the 2020 Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational. The Buckeyes finished the first 18 holes in second place with a score of 286. In the afternoon, the team carded a 293 to hold onto their spot on the leaderboard. They will enter the third round with a 579. Arizona State currently on top of the field by 15 strokes with a 564 after two rounds.
Junior Yukie Sasaki leads the Buckeyes with a 3-under 141 after the first day of competition. Sasaki carded a 69, her lowest score of the season, in the first round of 18 holes. It is only the fourth time that a Buckeye has recorded a score in the 60s this season. She followed up with a 72 in the second round. Both scores are under her season average of 75.6. Her scores currently place her in a tie for third overall in a field of more than 90 student-athletes.
Aneka Seumanutafa follows close behind sitting in seventh after carding a score of 1-under 143. The sophomore finished the day 3-under in par-5 scoring and tallied 30 on par scores to sit atop that category.
The Buckeyes lead the field with 129 holes on par. Ohio State also recorded 4-over in par-3 scoring and 7-over in par-4 scoring to claim the second spot in both.
