COLUMBUS, Ohio – Inside Lacrosse’s 2020 Face-Off Yearbook named three Ohio State Buckeyes – senior Jeff Henrick, junior Justin Inacio and senior Ryan Terefenko – to its preseason All-Big Ten team. The magazine also picked the Buckeyes third in its Big Ten preseason poll.
Terefenko, one of three captains for the Scarlet and Gray this season, was a second-team USILA All-American last season as a do-everything defensive midfielder. He scooped up 36 ground balls, scored four goals, handed out four assists and caused two turnovers. A veteran of 45 career games, Terefenko has 109 ground balls, 13 caused turnovers and 28 points.
Inacio is coming off a sophomore season in which he was named the Big Ten’s co-Specialist of the Year after leading the conference in face-off percentage (.637) and ground balls per game (10.00). In five Big Ten games, Inacio won 81 of 119 draws (.681) and had 10 or more face-off wins in all 12 of Ohio State’s games. The junior from Oakville, Ontario was an honorable mention USILA All-American.
Like Terefenko, Henrick is a captain for the second consecutive year in 2020 and is coming off a season where he started all 12 games on defense. A native of Orangeville, Ontario, Henrick had 17 ground balls and seven caused turnovers in 2019 while helping the Ohio State defense hold four of its first six opponents to less than 10 goals. He played in every game – 48 in total – over the past three seasons.
Henrick, Inacio, Terefenko and the rest of the Buckeyes open their regular season on Tuesday, Feb. 4 at home vs. Detroit Mercey. They’ll also host a pair of scrimmages – Jan. 18 at noon vs. Marquette and Jan. 25 at noon vs. Lafayette – inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center as tune-ups. Both scrimmages are free and open to the public.
