COLUMBUS, Ohio – Less than two months after making his first United States National Team, rising senior Nathan Tomasello adds another first to his resume this weekend: he’ll travel overseas for his first international trip to compete in Romania July 22-23.
Tomasello earned his spot on the national team at 57kg thanks to his performance in Lincoln, Neb. at the World Team Trials, where he battled back from a challenge tournament loss to win 8-2 in the consolation round over Tyler Graff to lock up a second-place finish. This weekend, he’ll wrestle in the Ion Cornianu & Ladislau Simon 2017, which takes place in Romania, Bucharest. Tomasello takes the mat on Saturday, July 22. The finals get underway at 10 a.m. ET (Romania in seven hours ahead of Eastern Standard time).
A three-time All-American and three-time Big Ten champion, Tomasello is 84-6 over the past three years and has won 69 of his last 71 matches entering her senior season. Off the mat, he’s a four-time OSU Scholar-Athlete and three times has earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar honors (for a GPA of 3.70 or better).
