COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Buckeye golf alums have the chance to take another step towards the dream of playing on Tour, as Will Grimmer, Tee-k Kelly and Daniel Wetterich tee it up in the coming days for the second stage of Korn Ferry Tour qualifying.
Grimmer played at the Woodlands Country Club on Sept. 24-27, finishing tied for 8th at nine-under par to earn a spot in the second stage. The Cincinnati native will compete in Plantation, Fla. at the Plantation Preserve Golf Club on Nov. 5-8 to get a chance to play in the final stage of Q-School.
Kelly made it through the first stage shooting one-under through 72-holes to tie for 21st at the ArborLinks course in Nebraska City, Neb. The 2016 graduate will tee it up in Brooksville, Fla. at Southern Hills Plantation for the second stage on Nov. 5-8.
Wetterich won his pre-qualifier in Nebraska at the end of August and followed it up with a third-place finish of 20-under par in the first stage of qualifying in North Carolina. There are five sites for the second stage and Wetterich has elected to play in the earliest event at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas on Oct. 29-Nov. 1. Wetterich had a successful summer after graduation, finishing second at the Western Amateur and fourth at the Dogwood Invitational as well as 11th at the Northeast Amateur.
The top 138 players plus ties from the five second stage sites will have the opportunity to compete in the final qualifying stage for the Korn Ferry Tour. All players who compete in the final stage will receive status on the Korn Ferry Tour for the 2020 season ranging from conditional to fully exempt status.
