COLUMBUS, Ohio- Ohio State midfielder Lucy Clayton (Jr., Scarborough, England) and forwards Vanessa Immordino (Sr., West Essex, N.J.) and Curlyne Wynn (Fr., Trincity, Trinidad and Tobago) were named to the 2003 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Region Team Monday. The three Buckeyes earned first team accolades, to tie with the Michigan and Michigan State for the most first-team honors in the west region this year.
Immordino ended the 2003 season scoring 22 goals and 10 assists, compiling 54 points, including one defensive save against the Stanford Cardinal. She also posted a goal in the Big Ten tournament in the Buckeyes’ victory over No. 6- seed Northwestern Wildcats. Throughout her career, Immordino has posted 52 goals and 23 assists for 127 points. Clayton finished the 2003 campaign playing 18 of 20 Buckeye games, posting 15 goals and seven assists for a total of 37 points. Wynn, the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, tallied seven goals and seven assists for 21 points, including a goal in the Big Ten tournament win over the Wildcats.
Last season, four Buckeyes represented Ohio State on the all-region teams. Jenee Doto, Immordino, Mariana Solorzano and Stacy Todd earned the honor with Immordino and Todd garnering first team honors and Doto and Solorzano receiving second-team honors. Ohio State finished the regular season 12-6, including a 4-2 record in the Big Ten. In tournament action, the Buckeyes advanced to the semifinals following their win over Northwestern, 3-2, but fell to No. 2 seed Michigan State, 5-0.
