WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Three additional members of the Ohio State diving team booked a ticket to the 2019 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships held at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Two from the men’s team automatically qualified on the 3-Meter board, while one from the women’s team claimed a spot competing on the 1-Meter board.
With a seventh-place finish in the final round, sophomore Joey Canova earned a qualification by scoring a total of 713.85. Freshman Jacob Fielding followed in eighth place, registering a score of 709.80 and taking the last automatic qualification for Zone C on 3-Meter. Both Canova and Fielding will make their first appearance at the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
By finishing in the Top 12 and automatically qualifying in yesterday’s 1-Meter competition, senior Christo Law (697.20) and sophomore Jacob Siler (694.10) are eligible to compete on 3-Meter as well.
Junior Lara Tarvit placed seventh on the 1-Meter board to claim one of nine automatic qualifications, finishing with a score of 548.25. Tarvit will make her second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships on the board and third overall.
Competition continues tomorrow at 11 a.m. on the platform for both the men and women.
