COLUMBUS, Ohio  – Three Buckeyes on the fourth-ranked Ohio State men’s tennis team were selected to the 2010 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships the NCAA subcommittee announced Wednesday. Sophomore Chase Buchanan and senior co-captain Justin Kronauge earned selections in singles, while Buchanan and freshman Dino Marcan received an automatic bid in the doubles championship.

The individual championships will begin May 26 following the conclusion of the team tournament at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga. The University of Georgia will serve as hosts of the 2010 NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships.

Buchanan, the 2010 Big Ten Athlete of the Year, received the Big Ten Conference’s automatic bid. A native of New Albany, Ohio, Buchanan is the No.7-seed in the tournament. With a 28-4 overall record, Buchanan has claimed 23 singles wins at the top of the lineup, including 19-straight victories. The second-year Buckeye is 17-4 against nationally-ranked opponents, including two in the Top 10.

Kronauge, a three-time unanimous All-Big Ten honoree, earned an at-large bid. A two-time ITA All-American, Kronauge is 34-3 overall this season with a team-high 23-match win streak. He is 18-1 and 11-0 at Nos. 2 and 3 singles, respectively. Last year, Kronauge was named to the 2009 NCAA All-Tournament Team at No. 3 singles, going 6-0 en route to the Buckeyes’ first NCAA final appearance in program history.

In doubles, Marcan, a 2010 All-Big Ten selection, paired with Buchanan and received an automatic bid into the Division I doubles championship. The Buckeye pair is currently 18-2 with 14 victories coming from the top of the lineup. Buchanan and Marcan, currently polled ninth in the nation by the ITA, upset the ninth-ranked doubles tandem in the nation in Austin Krajicek and Jeff Dadamo of Texas A&M, 8-7 (7-5) at No. 1 March 7 in Columbus as an unranked pair. Since the win over the Aggies, the duo has captured nine victories over nationally-ranked doubles teams.

No. 4-seed Ohio State is preparing for the 2010 NCAA Team Championship and will serve as one of 16 hosts of the first and second rounds. The Buckeyes will take on Western Michigan at 1 p.m. May 15 at Stickney Tennis Center. Live stats will be available at
