COLUMBUS, Ohio – Leanne Bough, Emma Goldean and Makenna Webster were named on Wednesday to the inaugural 2022 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Watch List.
The list represents student-athletes with the strongest potential for consideration to the 2022 NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams. It includes 254 student-athletes across all three divisions.
Bough and Goldean are both team captains and among the most experienced players on this year’s roster. In fact, Goldean is just nine games shy of tying the program’s all-time record for games played (85) and has started 74 of the 76 contests that she’s played in. She was an All-Big Ten and All-West Region selection last season.
Bough, a senior, led the team with five goals scored in 2021 and has one so far this season. She was also an All-Region choice in 2021 and has 20 points in her 54-game career.
Webster is one of 15 newcomers on the 2022 roster and so far has had an immediate impact. A transfer from the University of Wisconsin where she was a standout ice hockey player, Webster is tied for second on the team with four points in the first four games (one goal, two assists).
Webster was the Most Outstanding Player of the 2021 NCAA Frozen Four and will also play ice hockey for the defending national champions at Ohio State.
Ranked 23rd nationally, Ohio State (3-1) hosts No. 3 Maryland and No. 17 Wake Forest this weekend at Buckeye Varsity Field. Admission and parking is free.
