Michael Gildon, who recently finished his freshman season on the Ohio State men’s hockey team, along with future Buckeyes Jakub Dobeš and Mason Lohrei, are all listed in the Draft Prospect Ranking from the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.
The lottery for the 2020 NHL Draft will be held Friday evening. Dates for the draft have not yet been determined.
Dobeš is ranked 20th among North American goalies, Lohrei, a defenseman, is No. 132 among North American skaters and Gildon is not in the rankings because of limited viewing.
A native of Plano, Texas, Gildon played in eight games for the Buckeyes as a freshman in 2019-20 before season-ending surgery in November. He scored a power play goal vs. Michigan Nov. 1 and picked up an assist vs. RIT Oct. 12 in his first collegiate game. Gildon spent two years with the U.S. National Team Development Program before joining the Buckeyes. He won a gold medal at the U17 World Challenge in 2017 and claimed bronze at the 2018 U18 World Hockey Championship.
Dobeš, from Vitkovice, Czech Republic, played in 21 games with the Omaha Lancers in the USHL in 2019-20, with a 3.09 goals-against average and .891 save percentage. He saw action in 10 games with the Topeka Pilots in the NAHL, recording a 1.59 goals-against average and .946 save percentage. Dobeš played two seasons with the St. Louis AAA Blues and was an All-Metro Hockey selection for De Smet Jesuit High School.
Lohrei, who is from Verona, Wis., played for the Green Bay Gamblers in the USHL in 2019-20. He had 37 points, with 29 assists, in 48 games in 2019-20. Lohrei played for Culver Military Academy before joining the Gamblers. In 2018-19, he had a 4-23-27 line in 42 games with Culver and also played nine games with Green Bay.
