COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three members of the Ohio State women’s track and field team were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic team for the 2014 season.

Juniors Katie Borchers and Michelle Thomas, and freshman Indya Slaughter were three of the 727 female track and field athletes honored by the association.

Thomas, an education major with a 3.77 GPA, was a First Team All-Big Ten selection and All-Great Lakes regional honoree in cross country for the Buckeyes. She is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and three-time Academic All-Big Ten.

Borchers, the 2014 Big Ten outdoor champion in the 800-meter run and the first-ever First Team All-American in cross country for the Buckeyes, ended the year with a 3.65 GPA in Exercise Science. Academically, Borchers was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Capital One Academic All-District selection in 2014.

In her first season with the Buckeyes, Slaughter was the 2014 Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner and an OSU Scholar Athlete with a 3.33 GPA. She ran as a member of the Buckeyes’ school indoor record-breaking 4×400-meter relay team at the Big Ten indoor championships (3:37.44).

Ohio State was also recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic team with a cumulative 3.20 team GPA.
