Sept. 12, 2016 Release

Columbus, Ohio— We’re inching closer to the 2016-17 college swimming season, and three Ohio State swimmers have already earned some serious recognition.

Matt McHugh on the men’s side joins Lindsey Clary and Liz Li on the women’s side as preseason All-Americans according to

Just 123 swimmers across the nation earned the honor, and the three Buckeyes join 22 other Big Ten swimmers as honorees.

Adding to their impressive feat is the fact that all three were named preseason All-Americans in multiple events:

McHugh– 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly
Clary– 1650 freestyle, 400 IM
Li– 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly

The three Ohio State stalwarts had incredible success in those events last year; Clary, Li, and McHugh won Big Ten titles in each of these events last season and they were All-Americans in five of them.

It will only be a matter of time before Clary, Li, McHugh, and the rest of the Buckeyes get back in the pool and look to build off of successful 2015-16 seasons. The women will return to the FGCU Invitational on Oct. 7-8 before both Ohio State teams fully return to competition on Oct. 28 against Kenyon.
