COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Buckeye trio of Laken Hinton, Kevin Stone, and Felix Kvarnstrom were named to the Big Ten Men’s Golf Preseason Honoree list announced Wednesday and voted on by the Big Ten coaches.
Sophomore Laken Hinton, a transfer from Augusta University in the spring last season, made early contributions to the Ohio State squad, competing in seven events with his high finish coming at the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional at two-under to tie for 14th. Prior to Ohio State, Hinton competed in the 2018 NCAA championships with Augusta and earned three top-10 finishes with seven rounds in the 60s.
Junior Kevin Stone made meaningful contributions last season, competing in eight events for the Buckeyes and accumulating a 75.22 scoring average. Stone collected his first career top-10 at the Puerto Rico Classic, shooting a career low 218 to finish third. With a 3-0 performance in the Jack Nicklaus Invitational match play event, Stone also earned his first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honors.
Felix Kvarnstrom comes to Ohio State from Lynn University as a graduate transfer with one year of eligibility left. Kvarnstrom has a lot of experience in big tournaments as he played in the DII NCAA Championship in all three of his years at Lynn, leading his team to the 2018 DII National Championship. He has 10 top-10 finishes in his career and a career low 54-hole score of 211 which he has shot on three separate occasions.
