COLUMBUS, Ohio — Senior Josh Fleagle set an Ohio State record in the 200 freestyle and three Buckeyes — Fleagle, Michael DiSalle and Matt McHugh — were named All-Americans to highlight Ohio State’s efforts on the second day of competition at the 2015 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Iowa City, Iowa. Ohio State ranks 15th in the team standings with 72 points.

Ohio State’s 200 medley relay grouping of Steven Zimmerman, DJ MacDonald, Matt McHugh and Fleagle posted a time of 1:25.21 in prelims. Qualifying for the evening session, the Buckeyes ultimately placed 15th with a finals mark of 1:25.79.

Two Buckeyes — Fleagle and DiSalle — earned a spot in the `A’ final of the 200 freestyle. Fleagle topped his own school record in prelims of the event, finishing with a time of 1:33.09. Ultimately, the pair finished back-to-back with DiSalle claiming seventh in 1:33.53 and Fleagle taking eighth in 1:33.72. DiSalle qualified with a season-best time of 1:33.22 in prelims.

McHugh pulled triple duty in the evening, qualifying for two individual events to compliment his relay showing. Finishing in a time of 46.45, he placed seventh overall in the 100 butterfly and 16th in the 100 backstroke in 46.93. McHugh qualified for the `A’ Final of the 100 butterfly with a preliminary time of 45.82, which ranked sixth fastest among the highly competitive field. He posted the 10th-fastest mark in prelims of the 100 backstroke in a season-best time of 45.75.

Ohio State’s Shane Miszkiel and Stephen Ettienne competed in the consolation final of the 3-meter diving event. Miszkiel led the way with a score of 398.50 for 13th, while Ettienne earned 394.35 for 14th. Combined, the Buckeye divers picked up an additional seven points toward the Ohio State team total.

The 800 freestyle relay event resulted in the Buckeye quartet of Fleagle, Rowan Williams, Brayden Seal and DiSalle placing 13th overall in 6:21.74.

In the 100 breaststroke event, junior DJ MacDonald earned 30th overall with a time of 53.29. Zimmerman and Williams also represented the Buckeyes in preliminary competition. Both suiting up for the 100 backstroke, Zimmerman claimed 33rd in 47.18 and Williams took 37th in 47.41, a season best time.

The meet with resume Saturday with prelims scheduled for 11 a.m. CT/12 p.m. ET.
