Sophomore Emma Jandel posts highest finish of the season tying for seventh
COLUMBUS, Ohio Three Buckeyes finished in the Top 10 as the Ohio State women’s golf team took third at the 2008 Big Ten Championships Sunday on the par 72, 6,271-yard Penn State Blue Course in University Park, Pa. The Buckeyes shot a final team round of 299 to bring its tournament total to 1202 (+50). The Buckeyes third place finish marks their 14th Top 3 finish in the last 16 years. Sixth-ranked Purdue won the event at 17-over 1169, followed by Michigan State in second at 1190.

“I feel like we finished about where we were seeded,” Therese Hession, Ohio State head coach, said. “Purdue has an excellent team again this year and I knew if we brought our A-game we would be able to contend for a top spot. We have some things we need to work on for the regional tournament and our focus now is getting through regionals and on to the national tournament.”
Leading the Buckeyes in the individual standings was sophomore Emma Jandel who moved up six places on day three to conclude the tournament tied for seventh, her season-high finish. The native of Dayton, Ohio, made par on her opening 11 holes and totaled 15 pars to shoot a 74. Combined with her previous rounds of 76-70-80, she totaled 300 (+12) for the tournament.
Senior Carling Coffing and freshman In Hong Lim finished just one stroke back from Jandel, tying for 10th. Coffing also made par on 15 holes during the last round to shoot her second-consecutive 74. The Middletown, Ohio native’s solid performance moved her up six spots during the last day of competition.

Lim closed out her first Big Ten championships with a 76 and stood in the Top 10 throughout the tournament. The native of Melbourne, Australia recorded had scores of 77-71-77-76301 (+13) for her highest finish as a Buckeye.
Junior Jessica Hauser also had solid outing, finishing in a career-best tie for 19th with a score of 305 (+17). Hauser, a native of Hartland, Wis., birdied three holes during the fourth round to shoot a 75, her lowest round of the tournament. 
Rounding out the Buckeye roster were junior captain Gemma Webster and senior Haley Brown. Webster shot an 82 on the day bringing her tournament total to 316 (+28) to tied for 43rd. Brown came in right behind Webster, tying for 45th at 317 (+29) after shooting a fourth-round 83.

The Buckeyes next await the announcement of the NCAA tournament field Monday. The regional sites for 2008 are Athens, Ga., Sacramento, Calif., and Austin, Texas.
