COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Buckeyes – Connor Mitchell, Grant Mitchell and Jacob Snyder – are among the 24 players on the latest U.S. men’s U19 roster released today. The current roster will need to be reduced by just one player before it’s finalized for the 2020 World Lacrosse U19 World Championships, which take place July 9-18 in Limerick, Ireland.

Ohio State’s Nick Myers is the head coach of the U19 squad for his second stint – in 2016, he led the United States to gold at the World Championship in Coquitlam, British Columbia. He and his coaching staff began the tryout process in June with 104 players. Through two tryout weekends last summer and a pair of training weekends this past fall, they’ve formed a 24-man roster that represents 14 different college programs (enrolled and committed).

In June of 2020, the U.S. team will have a training camp at US Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Md. and then a short training camp in early July before heading to Ireland for the World Championships.

Connor and Grant along with Snyder are all graduates of Calvert Hall High School in Baltimore. Together, they helped the Cardinals make history in 2019 by becoming the first team to three-peat as Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference champions. They’ll begin their Ohio State careers on Feb. 4 when the Buckeyes open the season at home against Detroit Mercy.

The United States is the only nation to have won the World Lacrosse Men’s U19 Championship, having rallied to beat Canada 13-12 in 2016. That was the eighth straight world championship for the U.S., which also won gold medals in 1988, 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2008 and 2012.
