COLUMBUS, Ohio – Junior All-American Thomas Murdaugh was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week Monday by the conference office after a stellar season debut at “The Dual”.
Murdaugh, the defending Big Ten indoor champion in the 400m, blew the field away in his premier event, taking the title in a blazing time of 46.75*, the top NCAA Division I time so far this season. The Dublin, Ohio, product also anchored the Buckeyes’ five-time defending Big Ten champion 4x400m relay team to a first-place finish in 3:11.44, a Top 10 DI performance. In all, Murdaugh contributed 10 points to Ohio State’s team score in an 88-74 victory over Michigan, the Buckeyes’ third win in a row over their archrivals.
The Buckeyes are scheduled to compete at the All-Ohio championships in Kent, Ohio, January 21-22.
