%^$The storied history of Ohio State men’s golf takes a back seat to no program in the United States. Ohio State has not only proven that northern schools have quality golf programs, but the Buckeyes have also been at the forefront and a leader among college golf’s elite since its inception in 1924. No other school can boast the home of “the greatest golfer in the world” Jack Nicklaus. No other school can boast a home course as renowned and beautiful as the OSU Scarlet Course. No other school can boast a coach with the background and knowledge of the legendary Jim Brown. No other school can boast a tradition as rich and glorious as The Ohio State University.%^$

%^$The reputation of Ohio State speaks for itself. Buckeye golfers represent their school with dignity and class. They refuse to make excuses. Playing in the fickle weather of the Midwest is a challenge that Buckeye golfers relish. The balancing of academics and athletics is a way of life under the tutelage of Coach Brown. The carrying on of the winning tradition is the greatest challenge, and Buckeye golfers are always equal to the task. %^$

%^$Tradition and stability has long been a hallmark of Ohio State Golf. In its 73 year history, the Buckeyes have had only five head coaches, George Sargent, Robert Kepler, Floyd Stahl, Rod Meyer and Brown. Such stability has allowed Ohio State to attract some of the nation’s finest collegiate golfers year-in and year-out. Six separate Golf Scholarship Funds enable Ohio State to finance the educations of these golfers. The money in these funds currently stands at more than $550,000, and the returns on this investment help the golf program to maintain a solid financial foundation.%^$

%^$Included in the 38 All-Americans produced by OSU are PGA Tour legends Jack Nicklaus (1961) and Tom Weiskopf (1962), as well as a host of other Tour professionals including Ed Sneed, Rick Borg, Clark Burroughs, Greg Ladehoff, Ted Tryba, Curt Sanders, Alex Antonio, Joey Sindelar, Brian Mogg, Chris Wollmann, John Cook, Chris Smith and 1984 Collegiate Player of the Year, Chris Perry.%^$

%^$In addition to their 22 Big Ten Championships, the Buckeyes also boast NCAA team titles in 1945 and 1979, and NCAA Individual Medalists in 1945 (Howard Baker) and 1961 (Jack Nicklaus). %^$

%^$Buckeye golfers not only represent their school, but are also regularly selected to represent their native countries in international competition. Six Ohio State golfers have represented their home nations in the Walker Cup, while another six have competed in the World Cup. Additionally, sixteen Buckeyes have played in the Sun Bowl.%^$

%^$All of this leads to just one conclusion; to play golf for Ohio State is truly a special honor. %^$
