Thirteen Receive Academic All-Big Ten Distinctions

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the second year in a row, the Ohio State softball team had 13 student-athletes receive Academic All-Big Ten accolades, the conference announced Wednesday. The baker’s dozen tied for the most amongst the 14 conference softball programs.

To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students must be letterwinners who are in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.

Five of the Academic All-Big Ten selections also garnered postseason recognition from the league for their performances on the field. Lilli Piper and Emily Clark were first team All-Big Ten picks while Bri Betschel and Morgan Ray earned spots on the second team. Claire Nicholson secured a place on the All-Defensive Team and was the Sportsmanship Award recipient.

In May, five Buckeyes received their degrees – Bri Betschel (Human Development & Family Science), Megan Choinacky (Pharmaceutical Science), Emily Clark (Sport Industry), Lilli Piper (Sport Industry) and Morgan Ray (Health Sciences).
